What Students Walk Away With
Our goal isn't just a higher score — it's a student who understands the material deeply enough that the score reflects their real ability.
Methodical Problem Solving
Students develop a clear, communicable process for working through novel problems — showing their reasoning as effectively as their answer.
Scientific Argumentation
The ability to engage with open-ended science and technology questions thoughtfully, constructing evidence-based arguments rather than just recalling facts.
Compelling Written Voice
Students learn to write about their ideas and experiences in a way that is specific, genuine, and memorable to admissions reviewers.
Application Readiness
Full familiarity with every component of the TJ admissions process — no part of it comes as a surprise on the day it matters.
What a Typical Session Looks Like
Each session is 90 minutes and follows a consistent structure so students always know what to expect.
Check-In
0–5 minReview where the student is in the admissions process — upcoming deadlines, which components are complete, and what this session should prioritize.
Review
5–30 minPrior homework and assignments will be reviewed to ensure the student understands past lessons before continuing
Practice
30–90 minFocused work on a specific skill area — problem solving strategy, scientific reasoning, or written expression — based on the student's current lesson focus.
Next Steps
Before You GoHomework and assignments will be assigned to ensure that the students stay at a high level of proficiency.
We recommend beginning TJ prep at least 3–4 months before the Part 1 deadline to allow adequate time for essay practice, math acceleration, and personal statement development.
